Passion - Original

Price:

Size: 30 x 36

I was painting live in front of 30 people, all not knowing what was about to happen... Myself included.  At times I felt a little pressure and anxiety about the situation, but then I would just take a breath and come back to where I was.

This painting was created live during an event at Gracey Lane Farm in Fallbrook, CA on February 9th, 2019.  The theme of the night was Pure Passion.  I was one of 4 artists displaying art, we all painted live for guests of the event.  There was a Michelin rated chef from Ironside Restaurant in Oceanside, CA, who with his team prepared a 4 course meal for everyone.  Wine from Wilson Creek Winery out of Temecula, CA was paired with every course.  The cherry on top was the musical entertainment from Karen Cobb out of Long Beach, CA.  The event is conducted by the one and only Jen Phillips and her gallery curator Mahana Macken.  I've been working with them for over a year now representing my work and have been loving the relationship.

This painting was a free flow piece all about staying present and being fully sharp with my brush in the moment.  I was painting live in front of 30 people, all not knowing what was about to happen... Myself included.  At times I felt a little pressure and anxiety about the situation, but then I would just take a breath and come back to where I was.  Recently I've been really focusing on being all in, 100% with what I'm doing at that present moment.  I've been thinking about the concept of excellence and precision in my work.  These elements are essential to greatness, and that's what I'm striving for in my work.  Looking back, I can see that there have been spurts of flashes of this in my career, but to be truly great is to bring this to the table always.  It's a way of being.  These elements were reflected in the event that I was at, in the food we were eating, the wine we were drinking, and the singing we were hearing.  This level of integrity is what I was painting.
